Born and raised on a farm in rural Oklahoma, I now reside outside Dallas. After 25 years as a Stock Broker, Financial Advisor, and Portfolio Manager, I returned to being just like you, an Individual Investor.

A passion to help the average investor was the inspiration for writing Charting and Technical Analysis, Trading The Trends, and Common Sense Investing. I firmly believe in today's world it is imperative for every investor to be knowledgeable about the financial markets and make their own decisions regarding their investments. No one told you how to make your money, nor will anyone else have your best interests in mind when investing it.

The individual investor is at a huge disadvantage listening to the media, a Financial Advisor salesperson, or reading advertisement pages on brokerage firm websites. That is NO WAY to learn about investing or make investing decisions, and relying on a Financial Advisor to make your investing decisions can be nothing short of financial suicide. They are there to take your money, and if you let them, they certainly will, by 'hook or by crook,' as explained in 'Common Sense Investing.'

One of the very first, and most important things I learned was to 'follow the money'. In virtually any situation, if you want to know the truth, following the money trail will most always answer any questions you might have. In trading and investing, the 'money trail' consistently shows up in the charts. Investing successfully requires understanding what the 'money trail' is saying. In 2000 when the stock market was engulfed in euphoria, most Financial Advisors and money managers were no different than the unknowing, unsuspecting, public. They continued selling investments to uninformed clients while professing Buy-and-Hold for the long term. These same investments were sold in mass a short seven years later with no concern that the average investor would take a huge loss during a market correction, and especially a Bear Market.

This became the catalyst and never ending passion to offer the individual investor the necessary tools to be successful. Charting and Technical Analysis and Trading the Trends do just that. What better way for an individual investor to protect their investments than to be educated about investing, the market, and make their own decisions.

My theory has always been simple. Even if the individual investor continued using a Financial Advisor, that investor would be informed, and be able to contribute to any decisions regarding their investments. Thus, hopefully avoiding major mistakes, like buying in at the top, or selling out at the bottom.

Writing what I know continues to be more enjoyable than I ever dreamed possible, and I look forward to sharing all my learning experiences with my readers.

"It's not what happens to us or the mistakes we make in life that determines who we are, it is what we do with it."
